Our Wellness Plan

T

horough diagnosis and identification of necessary treatment is very important. Creation of a Wellness plan to properly address these treatment concerns is equally important. We believe in working with our patients to customize their Wellness plan, taking into account their concerns, budget, and schedule. There are often different options for treatment and we stress educating our patient concerning these options so that they can make an informed decision that best suits their situation. In developing a comprehensive Wellness Plan, we consider, among other things, the following:

Gum Health:

Will the patient need a routine cleaning or a more thorough deep cleaning? If gum health is poor (gingivitis) or bone loss is present (periodontal disease) we may recommend more frequent cleanings or other treatment methods. We do not tailor our proposed treatment based on limitations of insurance plan benefits but on what is in the patient’s best interest.

Cavities:

Tooth Decay
If cavities are present, why are they present? Cavities usually form in response to certain dietary and oral hygiene practices. Typically cavities are sufficiently treated by removal and placement of a filling. If cavities are large or nerve involvement is present, more in depth treatment may be needed, possibly including root canal therapy and crown restorations.

Fractured teeth or large fillings:

What is the best way to treat these teeth? Are there existing and deteriorating fillings that are broken, leaking or discolored. Fractured teeth and teeth with large fillings (which are at risk of becoming fractured teeth) can often be properly restored with crowns or “caps”, which are designed to strengthen teeth weakened by breakage or large fillings.

Cancer Screening:

Although there is no guaranteed way to anticipate the onset of oral cancers, we make a diligent effort to screen for potential risk factors based, among other things, on clinical examination, specialized tests and review of your medical, behavioral and oral health history.

Missing teeth:

How can these teeth be replaced? It is important to replace missing teeth to maintain chewing ability, a functional occlusion (bite) and restore esthetic facial contours. There are many options for tooth replacement such as dental implants embedded in the jaw bone, dental bridgework (multiple crowns joined together) anchored on existing teeth and removable partial dentures using the bony ridge at the tooth gap.

Form and Function:

The ultimate goal of most oral care is to restore proper form and function as Nature intended. We keep this foremost in assessing the clinical condition and recommend only treatment that meets this goal. This may take the form of restoring a properly functioning occlusion (bite) with adequate joint (TMJ) balance, identifying deleterious habits (teeth grinding, tongue thrusting, thumb sucking, etc) or damaging societal habits (smoking, binging and purging, excessive snacks/cola diet, etc) We do not shy away from addressing these concerns with our patient in a full, frank and open manner and invite them to share their deeper concerns, when appropriate. We look beyond the teeth to the overall person.

Anxiety:

If past experience has made the patient uncomfortable or generally anxious about dental treatment, we take every measure to ensure their concerns are addressed to provide for a pleasant and comfortable experience. We work closely with our patient to develop a comprehensive Wellness Plan to best address their personal and dental needs, including sequencing treatment when full and immediate treatment is not an option.

Preventive Care:

Our goal is to provide our patient with the tools to maximize and maintain their overall oral health, emphasizing patient education and sensible instructions. There is no substitute for a proper home care regimen which can improve overall systemic health, lower dental and medical costs, and lead to less time in the dental chair. In addition to patient education, we may customize a homecare plan based on your current condition and discuss other extraneous factors that may affect your oral health.
Our emphasis is on patient interaction and education. We believe the most valuable thing we can give you is the knowledge necessary to improve and maintain your oral health, and be your own preventive dentist.

Your Smile Options

Our practice offers a wide variety of dental procedures. The office uses state-of-the-art technology and procedures that are on the "cutting edge". Dr. Sheth places special emphasis on reconstructive and restorative dentistry and uses a variety of cosmetic technologies and materials to create dramatic results. If you are unhappy with your smile or simply wish that a few teeth were whiter or looked better, then inquire about the many ways that can lead to a more beautiful smile.

Brighter smiles

Teeth-whitening is a simple, non-invasive improvement of your smile, overall appearance and self-esteem. For optimal results, home-use, custom-designed systems are prescribed and supplemented with faster in-office, same-day smile booster as needed. We emphasize the benefits and side effects of the procedure and emphasize realistic patient expectations.

Dental Bonding

Dental Bonding
Esthetic restorations (tooth-colored resin fillings) have made miraculous smile restorations possible with ease allowing quick and painless ways to fix cracks and chips in teeth. Bonding with composite resin materials offers an excellent way to re-shape small or crooked teeth, cover imperfections or fill cavities in place of silver amalgam fillings. Dental bonding also affords reinforcement of structurally-weakened teeth and often prolongs its life. The process usually takes less than an hour, is virtually pain-free and preserves your natural tooth as much as possible. Once a proper resin color is selected, the tooth surface is prepared, a special adhesive is applied and the resin is sculpted to the appropriate shape. A special light is used to harden the composite resin material allowing for an instant smile-makeover! If you would like more information about tooth bonding, contact us today! Dental Veneers

Veneers and crowns can resolve a number of esthetic problems:
  • Crowded or crooked teeth
  • Spaces between teeth
  • Change the width or length of your teeth
Some patients have teeth that are “crowned” or “capped”. Older crowns are often a poor match, or simply do not look natural. Newer materials, such as all porcelain crowns, may be able to offer you a more natural look. Whether your cosmetic concern is as simple as one stained filling or you want a full smile makeover, at Oracare Dental we can give you the smile you have always dreamed of. Our office offers porcelain dental veneers for stunning smile restoration. These hand-crafted fixtures can hide many imperfections in teeth including crooked, misaligned, chipped and stained teeth. Dental veneers are often used by dentists for “instant orthodontics,” which employs the latest cosmetic dentistry procedures to correct alignment, bite and discoloration flaws in hours or days instead of months or years.
Dental Bonding
Two visits to our practice are all that is required to achieve not only beautiful, but functional, long lasting results. On your first visit to our office, we will make sure dental veneers are right for you. Then your natural teeth are typically prepared for the porcelain veneers by filing down a small amount of the surface. This allows for more natural and durable dental veneers. After your teeth are properly prepared, an impression of your mouth is taken and used to create custom porcelain dental veneers that will fit your mouth perfectly. Once the porcelain dental veneers are made, a return visit to our office is all that's needed to finish up. On your second visit, your dental veneers are gently fitted over your natural teeth. Dr. Sheth will assure that your new porcelain veneers fit and look perfect before using a bonding cement to fix them in place. Once your porcelain dental veneers are in place, your smile restoration is complete and you are left with a beautiful new smile. If you have any more questions you would like our staff to address regarding porcelain dental veneers, contact our practice today.

Dental Implants

“What are dental implants?” Dental Implants are used for individual tooth replacement or in multiples to provide anchoring systems for bridges, denture implants or partial dentures. Implants have also been used to replace or reconstruct the whole mouth for a complete makeover.
Dental Bonding
Dr. Sheth can offer a choice of treatment alternatives using different combinations of procedures. Ask us about “Teeth in an Hour”. Dental Implants are made of titanium and placed directly into your jawbone surgically. Then a crown, bridge or denture is placed over the implants and yield permanent, natural-looking teeth that don't have to be removed nightly. Restoring Form and Function

  • Removable Dentures
  • Porcelain Veneers and crowns (CAD-CAM, Captek)
  • Habit appliances (Nite gards, Snore gards)
  • Comprehensive Rehabilitation (adult care, bite restoration, facial deformity)

Fillings

  • Amalgam (silver) Fillings and Resin (white) Fillings: We do not typically recommend the removal of older amalgam fillings unless there is a cavity or other breakdown of the filling. However, when your filling does need to be replaced, that is the ideal opportunity to consider a “white” or more esthetic filling to match your natural teeth.
  • Stained Fillings: Some patients have found that older “white” fillings have stained, or no longer match their teeth. These fillings can be replaced to look more natural.
